Why Edible Sheets Are 8.5 x 10.5 Instead of 8.5 x 11

Regular printer paper is 8.5 x 11 inches, but edible frosting sheets are 8.5 x 10.5 inches because they have a 0.5-inch clear loading strip at the top.

This strip is not edible. It’s a blank area the printer uses to grab the sheet and pull it in straight.

Without this strip, the sheet can:

jam inside the printer
slide out of place
print crooked
ruin your edible design

That tiny 0.5 inch helps your edible print come out clean, straight, and beautiful.

Why the Correct Canvas Size Matters

Always start your design with a canvas that is:

➡️ 8.5 x 10.5 inches

This tells the printer the true size of your artwork.

Example

If your cake is 8 inches round and you need a 7-inch circle:

set your canvas to 8.5 x 10.5 inches
size your circle to 7 inches inside that canvas

When you print on our frosting sheets, that circle will come out exactly 7 inches.

Correct canvas = correct print.

What Happens If the Canvas Is Wrong

If you use the wrong template size (like 7 x 10, 8 x 11, etc.):

your image can shrink
your image can stretch
circles can turn into ovals
sizes come out wrong
parts of the design can get cut off

Your canvas sets the maximum width and height.

Wrong canvas = wrong results every time.
